For the 2nd year in a row Rudy International was given the Henderson Award for the business of the year. This is quite an honor considering how many businesses qualify for the award.
Rudy International received an award from Crystal C. Chavez Foundation in appreciation for being a sponsor for their inaugural scholarship fundraiser.
The Sports Page Weekly featured an article about Rudy’s interest in the game of golf. As stated in the article although Rudy doesn’t have the opportunity to play golf as frequently as he would like due to his busy schedule he is very fascinated by the game.
SPECIAL EVENTS
AN EVENINING WITH SEAN ASTIN- Rudy & Sean Astin were re-united for a fundraiser event for the benefit of THE RUDY FOUNDATION FOR CHILDREN on the evening of September 25th, 2009. The event was held at the home of Gavin Maloof in Las Vegas, NV. Gavin is the owner of the Sacramento Kings and the Palms Hotel & Casino. Also in attendance was boxing champion Floyd Mayweather along with many other notable guests. Robin Leach was MC for the evening and conducted the auction. The funds raised that evening for the Rudy Foundation will provide scholarships to children for education and self -improvement programs. As part of the entertainment for the evening Rudy’s daughter Jessica brought the house down when she sang DON’T RAIN ON MY PARADE. .
THE COLLEGE FOOTBALL RUDY AWARDS took place in Nashville at the AFCA (American Football Coaching Association) conference where 40 out of 120 Division 1 football programs nominated a player for the award. The top three finalists were Brian Coulter of University of Missouri, O’Darris D’Haiti of Florida International University, and Levon Morefield of University of Akron. The winner was Levon Morefield who received a $5,000 scholarship to his school’s scholarship fund and a bronze RUDY AWARD sculpture. The two semi finalists received a $2,500 scholarship to their school and a bronze plaque.
Rudy attended the Sacramento Kings basketball game at the home base in Sacramento, CA. While there Rudy was interviewed live in front of 18,000 Sacramento Kings Basketball fans present at the game.
The Notre Dame Book Store held a book signing on 10/17/09. Over 300 books were sold along with other items.

GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY
Rudy spoke to the LV Demolition semi pro football team in Las Vegas to motivate and inspire the players who were currently 10-0 in league play. Rudy addressed the team prior to playoffs to help motivate them on to victory.
At the request of the Will County Habitat for Humanity Rudy attended the 20th anniversary celebration to help the organization to fulfill their mission to build more homes. Rudy’s presentation was a motivational message to inspire them to reach their goals.
Rudy was invited to speak at a farewell dinner to the graduating seniors of the 21st company Brigade at the Naval Academy in Annapolis this past spring. Rudy spent time in the Navy himself prior to attending the University of Notre Dame.
Rudy attended a luncheon & silent auction fundraiser event for St. Francis of Assisi a local catholic church and donated several items for their silent auction to help boost ticket sales for the event.
United Way of Southern Nevada held their annual campaign kickoff luncheon where Rudy was featured as guest speaker for the event…..
Rudy was guest speaker at the City of Henderson Parks & Recreation Department (Sports Section) volunteer coaches banquet in Henderson, NV. The coaches are all volunteers and the banquet was held to show appreciation for their contribution to various sports programs in the community. The volunteers are key to the success of the program.
At the request of the UNLV Hockey team Rudy gave a pep talk to the team which helped inspire and motivate the team to a victory.
Rudy spoke to the students at David Cox Elementary School in Henderson to give an inspirational message to the students. Local school visits when Rudy’s schedule allows is one of the many ways Rudy gives back to their community.
While in the Ohio area for a scheduled event Rudy attended a Parkinson’s disease fundraiser at the request of the organization. These types of events also create a better awareness of the disease.
At the request of the Henderson Healthcare Center Rudy made a short appearance at their facility after a showing of the “Rudy” movie to its patients. It put a smile on their faces and they really enjoyed meeting someone they have seen on TV or read about. They were very appreciative and said “words cannot express” how Rudy’s visit created a treasured moment for them……
The next “Rudy Chat” will take place on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time. Put the date on your calendar and Rudy will be available to answer questions, etc.
